Alpha Chi Omega’s national philanthropy is Domestic Violence Awareness, a cause we are deeply passionate about. At the Epsilon Tau chapter, we are committed to making a meaningful impact both within the Virginia Tech community and beyond. Throughout the year, we host a variety of events to raise awareness, educate others, and fundraise in support of survivors and local organizations. Through these efforts, we aim to spark important conversations, foster compassion, and be advocates for change.
Mock Rock

Each fall, Alpha Chi Omega hosts our annual philanthropy event, Mock Rock, to raise funds and awareness for survivors of domestic violence. During this impactful week, we come together to support the Women's Resource Center of the New River Valley, helping provide essential services such as emergency shelters, counseling, transitional housing, and more.
In 2024, we proudly raised $45,000 and collected over 3,000 canned goods for the center’s pantry, directly contributing to the safety and support of women and families in need. This week of giving is a powerful reminder of what our sisterhood can accomplish when we stand united for a cause.
5K For DVA
During April, we host our 5K for DVA, an annual event dedicated to promoting awareness, education, and prevention of domestic violence. This race is more than just a run, it’s a powerful way for our chapter and community to stand together in support of survivors and advocate for change.
The event brings together students, faculty, and local residents for a morning of unity, movement, and purpose. Participants run or walk through a designated route, all while raising critical funds for the Alpha Chi Omega Foundationand local domestic violence support organizations.

Denim Day

Denim Day, held during Sexual Assault Awareness Month, is a powerful reminder of the ongoing fight against victim-blaming and the stigma surrounding survivors. It began after an Italian court overturned a rape conviction, claiming the victim’s tight jeans implied consent.. In response, Denim Day became a global movement, a symbolic way to protest flawed thinking and stand in solidarity with survivors of sexual violence.
Our sisters participate in Denim Day by painting denim designs on the Drillfield, creating a visible, creative, and thought-provoking space for advocacy and conversation. We encourage the entire campus community to join us, not only by wearing denim but by educating themselves, challenging harmful narratives, and showing up for survivors in both words and actions.
Healthy Relationships Week
Healthy Relationships Week is dedicated to promoting the importance of building strong, respectful, and supportive relationships as a way to prevent domestic violence and sexual assault. Held each February around Valentine’s Day, the week encourages individuals to reflect on and define what love truly means to them through the “Love Is…” campaign.
Programming is open to everyone and typically includes educational resources, interactive social media campaigns, and a featured event or discussion focused on relationship health. Through awareness and education, Healthy Relationships Week aims to empower individuals to recognize the qualities of healthy relationships and foster a culture of care, respect, and understanding.
